Home / Introduction
In the spring of 2011 at the age of 59 I had both of my hips replaced on the same day. My bilateral hip replacement operation was the culmination of a long process. Looking back on it I said to myself, “if I’d have only known at the beginning what I’d discovered by the end I could have avoided an awful lot of wasted time, money and suffering”.
I’m putting up this website in the hopes it will help others facing the daunting task of dealing with “terminal” osteoarthritis of the hip. There are some bullet point lists for those wanting the quick version and long pages for those who like to curl up with a story. I have no medical training or credential, just a long journey from disability to full recovery.
This is an intensely personal story. I suffered and became disabled from the progressive degeneration of hip osteoarthritis. I adapted with both pathology and aplomb. I took action, making bad choices as well as good ones. In the end I achieved an absolutely spectacular outcome.
I’ve chosen to leave out names, even mine. What is important are the concepts, not the players.
Good luck in your journey.
